ACAR’s staff takes pride in providing one-on-one personal service to classic auto enthusiasts, mixing hands-on craftsmanship with old-school techniques. They specialize in award-winning frame-up restorations, as well as offer non frame-up and partial restorations. All brands served, whether muscle cars, classics, antiques, street rods or trucks, show car or daily driver.

Quality does not come come quickly, easily or inexpensively

Their services encompass top-quality restoration and refinishing, mechanical and maintenance, body work, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, welding, aluminum and stainless steel trim repair, and emblem restoration, as well as services for engines, transmissions and rear ends, chrome plating, aluminum anodizing, gauges, instruments and other mechanical components, interiors and upholstery, and parts locating.

Classic auto restorations are unpredictable and there are many variables involved (i.e., the pre-restoration condition of the vehicle, any unforeseen or hidden damage, the availability of replacement parts, whether show car or daily driver quality is desired, etc.); therefore, an estimate of the actual time and labor, and materials and parts costs cannot be accurately determined. A frame-up restoration (approximately 3,500 hours and up) is the only way to insure a lasting ability as all areas of the auto are addressed during this process, which includes:

  • Research and parts locating
  • Written and photographic documentation of work
  • Custom exterior refinishing (stripping and refinishing exterior paint surfaces and straightening, replacing, or fabricating any necessary body panels, engine compartment and all interior painted surfaces)
  • Stripping and refinishing frame
  • Aluminum/stainless/chrome trim
  • Rebuilding front and rear suspensions as necessary
  • Rebuilding, refinishing and detailing engine and drive train as necessary
  • Repairing and refinishing underside of body as necessary
  • Interior and upholstery
  • Gauges, instruments, and other mechanical components
A non frame-up restoration includes stripping and refinishing exterior paint surfaces and straightening or replacing any necessary body panels, engine compartment and all interior painted surfaces.

All body, paint, fabrication, welding, mechanical and maintenance, aluminum and stainless trim services are charged on a time and materials basis.
